What You Didn't Know About Manufacturing In The USA: Perception Vs. Reality on Manufacturing Day 2015

October 2, 2015 / by Aaron Sabino

Here at STULZ, we are very proud to design, engineer, and manufacture our mission critical environmental solutions right here in the USA. With over 400 employees in our Frederick, MD facility, National Manufacturing Day always carries a special significance for our company.

We have talked before about the importance of "Made In America," and yet there continue to be many ideas about the state of American Manufacturing that are simply outdated or false.

As part of Manufacturing Day 2015, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has produced the following infographic which illustrates this disconnect between perception in reality with some very interesting statistics, such as:

  • Manufacturers are responsible for the vast majority of all private sector research and development in the USA
  • The highest paid new College graduates are chemical and manufacturing engineers
  • Over 70% of Americans consider manufacturing the most important industry, yet only 17% of people consider it a top career choice.

You can download the infographic from the Manufacturing Day Website here: http://www.mfgday.com/resources/manufacturing-america

Manufacturing is a vibrant and important part of the American economy, and STULZ is proud to be one of many great companies producing products in the USA.

Happy Manufacturing Day!
